Do not be fooled by the dynamic, self-assured photographs of Adolph Hitler. The Nazis, under his minister of propaganda, Joseph Goebbels, perfected the art of propaganda. Beneath the glorius images of the fuherer was a seething monster who promulgated the deaths of 70 million human beings. William L. Shirer at the beginning of the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich said:
